Hammer mill Mjölner 4 kW

The Mjölner hammer mill from Skånekraft is very similar to a large compost mill but takes the shredding of garden waste a few steps further. While the compost grinder makes coarse pieces of garden waste, the hammer mill turns it into sawdust. It is thus a very attractive machine to use to speed up the decomposition process of the material. Alternatively, you can use it together with the Skånekraft pellet presses. The production rate is high, but differs depending on the materials you choose to process. Harder materials like wood take a little longer for the machine to process, while softer biomass like leaves, hay, straw and maize are pulverised faster.

Cyclone for easy filling of containers

The hammer mill is equipped with a so-called cyclone, It is through this that the finished chips, or rather, the flour you produce will be transported. The function of the cyclone is mainly to remove airborne dust formed from the milling process. Under the cyclone, you can place a vessel or discharge directly into sacks. Handling is therefore much easier than traditional chip mills, where the end product comes out at the bottom. However, for those who wish, the cyclone can be easily dismantled and the mill's ejector plate at the bottom used instead.

Adapted for the production of pellets

In pellet production, the optimal particle size is always as fine as possible. This ensures that your pellet press works optimally and that the pelletising process is efficient. While some softer materials such as leaves and hay can be pelletised without grinding these raw materials first, the production rate is greatly increased when the feed of homogeneous and finely divided material is continuous. The design of Hammarkvarn Mjöln is such that the cyclone is at a suitable height to be placed over the feed hopper of a pellet press. Twigs and leaves in at one end - pellets out at the other. So you can build a small pellet factory on your gravel driveway with relatively small means.

Processing of cleavage residues

Firewood production produces a lot of waste products such as bark, sticks and the like, this material is ideal for pressing pellets, with the hammer mill you can refine the waste from the firewood machine into a fine powder that is easily fed into a pellet press.

Making your own stable bedding

The somewhat more forgotten function of the hammer mill is its ability to process biomaterials such as straw, autumn leaves and the like into stable bedding. Many people sprinkle their stalls with bio-pellets of straw, for example, which are usually moistened so that the pellets decompose into shavings again. With the hammer mill, the ”pellet stage” can be skipped completely and soft shavings can be produced directly from readily available raw materials.

A tidier garden

The power and capacity of the hammer mill is great. In a perfect world the hammer mill could turn even coarse logs into powder, however, this machine is designed to harvest what the garden produces most of, plant waste, rice, grass and of course the drifts of autumn leaves that come every year. Some users of the hammermill are stud farms and horse farms that shred horse manure to then spread or pelletise for easier handling. With an incinerator approved by the Swedish Board of Agriculture, it is also permitted to burn horse manure in pellet form, which is a very potent and almost free energy source for horse farms. It is the responsibility of the user to carefully inform themselves about the regulations on the handling and combustion of animal by-products, i.e. manure.
